My beauty must-haves

Winter has well and truly arrived and well... it is going to be here a while unfortunately. So while you're waiting for the glorious sun to come out and give you that lovely sun-kissed glow and the central heating to stop shrivelling your skin, make sure you have a good skin care regime and the right make-up to brighten up a sad face.

I've always had bad skin from when I was a teenager ... and I thought that once I hit 20 that they would just disappear like magic. WRONG! I still have breakouts for no reason (other than pesky hormones) and envy people with flawless skin. I'm pretty sure i'm not the only one; i've even spoken to 40-year-olds who still get spots.

I have tried many different face washes but they seem to just give me more spots (ARGHH!). However, recently I have perfected my skin care regime and found the right products for me. My skin is now so much better - I may always have the 2 or 3 spots but it is a vast improvement and I can't remember the last time i've been confident to not wear any makeup on most days.

Before I apply any make-up I make sure my face is cleansed, toned and moisturised, this will make applying foundation easier and prevents a dry, cakey look. Even if you aren't going to apply any make-up to then it is always good to have a good cleanse to get rid of any dead skin or excess oils depending on your skin type, this will make your skin look fresh and bright. One of the most common mistakes is not moisturising, even if you have oily skin then you should still moisturise :) you just need to find the right one for your skin type.

I will share below my beauty treasures! :)

1) + 2) Garnier Pure Active Cream Wash & Garnier Pure Active Anti-Blemish Moisturiser - Available at Boots.

Amazing face wash for anyone prone to blemishes. The magic ingredients are aloe vera and zinc, both have healing and anti-bacterial properties.

3) No7 Beautiful Skin Quick Thinking Wipes - £7 Boots (Or about 40p when you get a £5.00 off No7 voucher plus Boots discount if you know anyone!)

I know that £7 seems a little steep for some face wipes, but everyone was raving on about them to I gave in. The best time to get them is when No7 are giving away vouchers ... which most of they time they do anyway. They are best for any skin type, even those with sensitive skin, with pro-vitamin B5 to moisturise and soften, plus extracts of witch hazel and fennel to clear pores and leave your skin feeling smooth and fresh. I like to use them at anytime of the day, especially if i'm too tired or I don't have time to properly wash my face.

4) No7 Beautiful Skin Purifying Exfoliator - £8.50 Boots

I love to use this exfoliator once a week while i'm in the bath or shower, it leaves my skin looking glowy and feeling soft. Don't be deceived by the small tube, it lasts a very long time.

5) Bodyshop Skin Clearing Toner £5

I never used to use toner until now and I can't recommend it enough - i'm pretty sure this fantastic toner is the main reason my skin has bucked up its ideas now. I make sure I sweep a little toner over my face on a cotton pad after I've washed just incase i've missed any traces of dirt. I then wait for it to dry then moisturise. The magic ingredients in this are tea tree oil and tamanu oil. Tamanu oil is from a nut grown in the South Pacific and is well known for its super skin regenerating powers, it helps promote wound healing and the growth of healthy skin making is great for any skin conditions from acne to sunburns.

6) Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place Flawless Wear Concealer SPF10 - £21

Expensive ... but lasts all day. Really!

7) Rimmel Extra Super Lash Mascara Curved Brush - £5

One of the more cheaper mascaras on the market, however I do find that cheaper ones are just as good as the dearer ones, it is all about technique! I find that zig-zagging the brush while you apply is a good tip and also pushing your eyelashes up with your finger after you've finished applying :) give it a go.

8) Rimmel London Exaggerate Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner - £5

For a daytime look I just like to apply some liquid eyeliner above my eyes along with some Twiggy-esque cat flicks, but for the nighttime you can opt for a pencil on your lower lids as well for a dramatic, sexy look. It can be quite tricky to apply if you're new to liquid eyeliner but trust me you will get better with a little practise - just make sure you have some cotton buds to correct any mistakes!

9) Vaseline Rosy lips - £2

A tin of Vaseline will last you forever; it is a handbag essential and has been for many decades because you never know when a bad case of dry lips might strike. The rosy tint just makes your lips look more exciting without having to wear lipstick ... plus I like the smell of roses.

10) Natural Collection Blusher in Pink Cloud - £2 Boots

Probably the cheapest blusher in the shops, but hey, it does the job.

Tip: If your blusher is too bright and you want to tone it down a little then blend a bit of foundation over until you get you desired level of rosiness.

11) Rimmel Match Perfect Foundation -  £7

If you couldn't tell already pretty much all my make-up is from Rimmel :)

What I really like about this foundation is it blends very well and you only need a small amount to cover your skin, it also lasts me all day and stays perfect on my skin unlike some foundations, which can just melt away or become a cakey mess. The magic behind this foundation is its Advanced Smart-Tone Technology, which means in any light your foundation will look the same so it won't suddenly look orange as soon as you leave your front door ... which I have experienced.
